Practical Emotional Literacy™ was born at the intersection of three defining strengths that have shaped my career and my life’s work.
The first is more than three decades of experience as a management consultant brought in to solve difficult problems and deliver successful outcomes for clients. Throughout my career, I learned the technical problems were rarely the showstoppers. Progress often depended on navigating conflict, difficult conversations, competing perspectives, and situations where challenging emotions were influencing what happened next.
The second is a rigorous, evidence-informed study of emotions and human behavior. Those experiences led me to the science. I spent years studying how emotions actually function, what information they provide, and how that information can be used to navigate situations more effectively.
The third is a lifelong ability to recognize patterns and transform complexity into practical frameworks. Throughout my career, I’ve had an ability to see the patterns beneath complicated problems, organize them into practical systems, and make what once felt overwhelming understandable, teachable, and useful.
